You can get information for svga chipsets by calling the companies. Ask them for databooks and make sure they know you wish to do register level programming. Be warned that not all companies have invested much money into these services and I have had some trouble getting Cirrus Logic's system to understand what I want, although the folks were pretty friendly. Look into the documentation for the code to the XFree86 server for coordinates to some companies and general advice, and keep us posted as to your experience. Good Luck!
