Harris" To: djgpp list Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII I've just installed RHIDE, and I must say that so far I'm quite impressed. For about a year and a half I've been wanting to have a FLAT memory model, but didn't want to purchase another commercial compiler. Ie: Watcom. I am a Borland Junkie, and Watcom would break a significant amount of my personal legacy code. Since I'm now working on several graphical projects, I've decided to go with VESA 2.0. I've downloaded SCITECH's SDK, but as of yet haven't got it working with DJGPP. I've been using the SCITECH SDK for about a week or two now with BC 3.1 and it is great for video modes which fit in 64k, however, I couldn't stand the BAD (broken as designed) way of addressing video memory using the banked scheme. I've been playing with the idea of dl'ing DJGPP now for about a year or so now, but was reluctant due to rumors of complication that I've heard. Also rumors of code breaking, etc. Well, I finally decided that I *HAD* to have a FLAT memory model, and DJGPP was the only choice for me. I was somewhat surprised by its small footprint, and the amount of tools available for it. I figured that the biggest thing that I would miss would be the BC++ 3.1 IDE. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that RHIDE was a BCIDE copy, and also that the TV libs were available! I have some questions and comments: I'm having problems with RHIDE's help system. It doesn't seem to work all of the time. Sometimes not at all! It is very shaky. Any ideas? Also, Single step debugging is not working at all. When I hit F7 or F8 nothing happens. If I pull them off of the pull downs, nothing happens. I looked up help on the Run menu, but it doesn't have any help on Traceing with these 2 keys. I am assuming that the features are listed in the pull down menus, but are unfortunately not implemented yet. Am I close? Has anyone got a bin lib of SCITECH's SVGAKIT for DJ32? I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it to compile. Well thanks in advance for your help. Mike A.
