What exactly happens? What code are you using (can we see some
source?)

More importabtly, what CPU do you have? I'm putting the finishing
touches to my own slightly fancier mixer, and it has problems mixing
more than four 16-bit samples at 44Khz with all the trimmings enabled,
on a 496DX4/100, but I haven't tuned it for speed yet.
