Get DJGPP v2.0 instead of 1.12, and you won't need the real-mode gcc driver. DJGPP v2 can be downloaded from any SimTel mirror, directory SimTel/vendors/djgpp, subdirectories whose names begin with v2 (like v2gnu etc.).
