Use delete, type in the strange characters (using ALT+nnn) 2. Run Scandisk (MSDOS), Diskfix (PCTOOLS), or an equivalent 3. Using a tool like Norton's Diskedit, manually remove the entries from the FAT. 4. Backup to tape, "format c:".
