It's description is "popen()/pclose() seems to lose file handles", but there's something about system() in there as well (I only found out about that when the title was already hardwired). There's a patch to the system.c library source module as well. Another Bug to look at is Number 66, called "system() redirection: output can end up in the wrong file".
