Newer versions can search >for `foo.inf' when they don't find `foo' automatically. I don't know if >there is a new version of info.el which can be used in Mule (AFAIK, Mule >is based on an old version 18 of Emacs). My Mule is based on Emacs-19.29. It's true that INFO DOT EL AT 19 DOT 30 can handle an extension ".inf". But INFO DOT EL AT 19 DOT 29 can't do so. And INFO DOT EL AT 19 DOT 30 can't run on Emacs-19.29. >If there is no such version, >you can always edit the file `dir' yourself, there is nothing sacred in >it (I do this all the time, for different reasons). Of course, I modifyed `dir'. But many people in Japan use derivations of GNU Emacs which cannot deal with an extension ".inf", I believe. Do all people know how to solve the problem when INFO cannot pickup menu items ? I don't think so. Therefore I ask djgpp producers to modify `dir' file. I don't think it is hard for the producers to do it. Sincerely Yours Jin Teisuke
