It has no : problems running on any reasonable machine; I think even 3 MB of free RAM : will be enough to prevent it from swapping too fiercely. If memory is a concern, try JED. It has a very good emacs emulation, performs syntax highlighting, compile and next error, etc.... It is available from space.mit.edu in pub/davis/jed.
