Those of you who are new to game programming and want a development platform that's cheap (i.e. free) and of high quality should take a look at DJGPP and Shawn Hargraeve's Allegro library. I myself plan on converting my current game project written in Turbo C++ with XLIB 6.0 to DJGPP using Allegro 2.0.
