I'd wager that 95% of problems that appear after running scandisk suddenly show up because the file was corrupted in some way and scandisk got rid of it. It may appear just fine in the CONFIG.SYS but if the file isn't in the DOS or WINDOWS directories (whichever is specified in the CONFIG.SYS) the line is worthless.......
