I think that D.J. Delorie did the compilation either by hand or maybe under Linux (there were some makefiles using Unix cd syntax, e.g. cd ../texi) Now I have the complete V2 beta 3, and sometime I will get beta 4. In beta3 there is still gcc 2.6.3 and in beta 4 there is gcc 2.7.1 (so I have heard). My questions are the following: 1) What do I need to recompile DJGPP? Will it be (painlessly) possible under DOS (e.g. via makefile) or do I need Linux? 2) If under DOS, what else besides DJGPP V2 do I need? 3) Is it possible for a novice to apply patches from 2.7.1 to 2.7.2 (I downloaded the 7MB tar.gz file), or the repo-patch and the boundary check patch? There have been some postings that some people recompiled DJGPP for 2.7.2. I think that more people would like to try this. Maybe someone who has done it would like to write a short HowTo or a faq and give it to Eli Zaretskii (the faq maintainer) or post it in this newsgroup. Regards, Herbert Thimm
