Can anyone recommend the least scary EMACS around for the PC???? > That's the problem with emacs as well as with vi: They are most powerful tools, but pretty much counter-intuitive, and they require some getting used to, IMHO. I've come across an editor called 'Boxer', currently V 7.00 or something. I'm most enthusiastic about it- It's shareware, registration about 50$, IIRC. It's easy to use, versatile, powerful, features syntax highlighting for C/C++-files, Pascal, Fortran, autoexec/config.sys files etc., allows compiler control and even error backtracing. (Compiler spits out error -> Boxer will move the cursor to the error line; unfortunately does NOT work for DJGPP.) Often used gadgets like duplicating a line or swapping two lines at the stroke of a single key, as well as more nifty features like drawing frames with ASCII-characters. No, I'm not affiliated with them. I just love the product and would like to support the idea. Check it out, it should be available at all the major mirrors.
