The DJGPP FAQ list (available as faq102.zip from the same place you get DJGPP) might have a few advices for you chapter 6 that deals with this error message (and other related problems). If you don't find anything of help in the FAQ, post you CONFIG.SYS, AUTOEXEC.BAT, the environment listing and other info, like the FAQ explains in section 6.11 there.
