yup, the problem lies with emm386, the extended memory manager that comes
with DOS. Once I disabled it, go32 sees all 40 meg of my RAM. Of course,
my conventional RAM drops from 598k to 460k. (eck). Not to mention that
my Watcom DOS4/GW extender thinks there is no extended memory at all. :)
