Date: Thu, 8 Jun 1995 05:53:28 GMT Please don't flame me for wasting bandwidth, but i just ran across this group... We try REALLY hard not to flame anyone, we don't always succeed is all... here's the amazingly dumb question: what is djgpp?? DJGPP is a port of GNU C and C++ to the Intel [345]86 32bit environment hosted under MSDOS. It is a 32bit application and generates 32bit protected mode code. The current version (1.12m4) provides a free 32bit DOS extender, version 2.0 (in late beta now) will be DPMI complient and will provide a free DPMI server instead. The compilers provide a 32bit flat model, virtual memory, programming environment for porting UNIX, etc, code and for writing new code. The DJGPP project was begun, and is primarily maintained by, DJ Delorie [hence the name: (DJ)'s (G)NU C & C (P)lus (P)lus, or something like that]. -- Art S.
