I disagree.  The gateway should be message-by-message and immediate; even
discounting the delays involved in digestification, not everybody can run
procmail or other digest-friendly mailers---I, for instance, am basically
stuck with VMS mail.  [And my only news access is via Gopher gateways, so
I will stay on the list because it's probably more reliable.]
