Subject: Can't do maint or make JPEG, ar give checksum errs


Hi - I'm having trouble with ar (I think).  After unziping the files
from SimTel (downloaded from wuarchive on 5-5-95) I tried to do the
maintenence updates - all gave problems during the ar portion of the
batch file 'invalid OMF record length 24892' and such.  I did all three
untill go32 was up to date enough to run the samples - they all 
compile and run fine, so I think the compiler is installed ok.

Moving on I tried my current project, building jpeg (5A).  I've built
it under borland ok, but when I changed makefiles and jconfig.h to djg
everything compiles ok, but the ar barfs on the .o files with
'object record checksum error rectype 0x4c - corrupt module
jcapio (or whatever, all the jpeg modules give the same error).

In addition, in the tests directory the fseek test (t18) gives errors
indicating read write problems with the harddisk - I've seen no other
diks problems with any other s/w and I've used this same hardware
for years (micronics 486-50 mb, ultrastor esdi controller).
Any suggestions?
