Sorry, but isn't _this_ time for a new minor version number (I mean 1.13) ???
Maybe this change will clear the installation procedure for new users, 
and I think the change IS necessary when upgrading to a new compiler 
version (gcc 2.6.0 to 2.6.3).

As this is only my umble opinion, DJ and the staff can just get rid of 
this message.
