From: lederman AT dstc DOT qut DOT edu DOT au Subject: Modula-2 compiler available To: djgpp AT sun DOT soe DOT clarkson DOT edu Date: Thu, 12 Jan 1995 08:49:42 +1000 (EST) Hi all, This posting is to let you know that some of the Gardens Point Modula (GPM) Modula-2 compilers are now available on the net. The GPM compilers are an ongoing development project for the Programming Languages and Systems Group in the Faculty of Information Technology at the Queensland University of Technology. The Gardens Point compilers are based on seperate front and back-ends connected by a language independant intermediate representation called DCode. Front-ends have been written for Modula-2, Oberon-2, C, and an experimental object oriented language called Luna. A Sather frontend is near completion. Native code back-ends exist for the Intel i386/i486 chips (under SVR4, Linux, DJGPP, Windows-NT and OS/2), Sun SPARC under Solaris, MIPS R3000 under Ultrix, and most recently for Digital's Alpha-AXP under OSF/1. There is also an MS-DOS version based on interpreted DCode available. This provides a full 32-bit compiler on any PC running MS-DOS (at rather reduced speed). The GPM Modula-2 compilers for Linux, DJGPP and MS-DOS are available by anonymous ftp from pluto.fit.qut.edu.au:/pub/gpm_modula2. Various papers as well as the DCode reference manual can be down-loaded from /pub/papers. A GPM mailing list has been set up. To join the mailing list, send mail to majordomo AT dstc DOT qut DOT edu DOT au with the subject line blank and the body of the message containing: subscribe gpm info gpm end Any mail sent to gpm AT dstc DOT qut DOT edu DOT au will get automatically forwarded to all subscribers on the list. The development team are of course subscribers. We hope to hear from you! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Jeff Ledermann lederman AT dstc DOT qut DOT edu DOT au _--_|\ Faculty of Information Technology / QUT Queensland University of Technology \_.--._/ Box 2434 Brisbane 4001 AUSTRALIA v Ph: +61 7 864 5121 Fax: +61 7 864 1282
