  I was wondering what the point of graphics drivers are, and how they might
improve my life.
  When doing graphics I usually just make a RAM buffer and blit it to the screen.
  With VGA 13h this is simple.
  With SVGA this is more complex.  But with VESA it is no longer a problem.  There
is just some strange Bank Switching business.
  What does a driver do for you? Does it improve productivity?  Does it make your
code more portable?
 Isn't there too much over head of using some 
external program?  Is it linked into you program or something?

  Why do DJGPP graphics drivers end in "grn"?  isn't "drv" more intuitive?
