I would say go for it.  If there is a possibility of having the COFF
format with a separate version of the compiler which can be used by
those who need it, it will be even better.  Maybe even a compiler
option?  Or is it too much to ask?

Question: what is the ``magic number'' which designates this format
(that's for updating the f?stat() code which identifies executables)?
