From ongoing notes in the djgpp echo:

It has been out in alpha releases for at least a year, internal to the
developers and possibly some captive testers.

Best recent estimate is "sometime in 1995" for a first beta release.

I'd be patient; doing it right is a huge project, and everyone working
on it has a day job too, it seems.
