I ran your test progam by
  go32 a.out 2
and the output was some debugging printout and
  a.out->out
which is what I expected.  This was with 1.12maint2.  I'm afraid I just
removed 1.11 yesterday, so I can't say whether this is something which has
been recently fixed.
