The solution was: don't do that. I'm still going to try to explicitly cast the 'this' pointer, which I had forgotten about. There just has to be a way, in the end, its just a function address ... Ooh Ick. I have another question tho. I saw some conversation about text editors a while back and decided to try jed. It works pretty snazzy. However: I can't compile with make under jed; tells me there isn't enough memory to run go32. I was using demacs, and it worked fine (but the delete/backspace thing was making me crazy). I have a 486, and 4 meg ram, and a big hard drive. I really like the jed syntax hilight and the 'conformist' key layout, but I want to be able to compile in a window. I recompiled and relinked with djgpp 1.11m5, still happens. What am I doing wrong? Note: it will work if there is no updating, or if all I'm doing is linking. Anything else and it complains, try it twice in a row and it kaks dramatically! Little squiggly beasts crawl around on the screen, lines shuffle about, computer reboots. My posts sound like a Dear Abbey column. Oh well...bye for now. Frustrated in Franjistatori
