I tried to recompile less with termcap and it
wanted sgtty.h (which is necessary for some ioctls).

Well, I noticed no sgtty.h and ioctl(2) support.

Why not?

Aztec C provided a minimal sgtty.h a decade ago, which helped in
porting...

I have source for an msdos io system under msdos which supported
ioctl and did NDELAY reads...
