I tried to compile elvis, [from prep.ai.mit.edu], using the Borland/DOS options and defines as a starting point and linking with libpc.a, but, although I could tweak the sources to get it to compile, I was not really clever enough to get it to run. It didn't look wholly unpromising, but perhaps someone has already done it ... ? I'm specifically looking for a version that looks at the GO32 environment variable via GR_default_text so that I can use text modes above 80x25 (but start from and return to the 80x25 mode for DOS). I'm using 'vim' (non-DJGPP-compiled executable from simtel) now but it seems to be limited to the 80x25 mode. Yes, I know about the vi mode for emacs, but I prefer a standalone 'vi' [and vi is better for cannibalizing the code for spare parts]. -- ---------------------------------------------------------------- Gordon J.
