I am trying this again from another source. Perhaps the connection will work better here. I recently installed DJGPP 1.11 on my PC. I immediately started the tests in the TESTS subdirectory and the compiler failed on the first test with the following linker error: c:/mark/djgpp/lib/crt0.o: malformed input file (not rel or archive) I have tried to run objdump on lib/crt0.o and it gives me a similar error (not an object file). In fact I can compile any .c (or .cc) file to an object file and then run objdump on it and I still get the same error. I have a previous version of DJGPP (1.10). The linker from 1.11 (and objdump, objcopy etc.) understands the previous version's object files but not the ones created by GAS211. So it would appear that the new version of as.exe is not producing object files the new (or any other) version of ld.exe can understand and link with. BTW. I have a 25MHz 386 with 4MB RAM and about 70MB free for swap space, etc. What seems to be the problem here? Any clues. Have I missed something obvious? I got the zip files from wuarchive.wustl.edu in the directory systems/ibmpc/msdos/djgpp. The files we are talking about are: djeoe111.zip, djdev111.zip, gcc254bn.zip, gas211bn.zip, bnu22bn.zip, djdoc111.zip, txi210bn.zip, gpp245.zip, objc245.zip, bsn121bn.zip, flx238bn.zip, gzp124bn.zip, zip50bn.zip Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Mark =================================================================== Mark Elston elston AT edwards-tems DOT af DOT mil Use Proportional Font: true
