If you don't want the hassle of doing the port yourself, I suggest looking for EmTeX - it contains a 32-bit executable (tex386) and all the other bits you need, in one (free) package. It's DVI viewer (dviscr) will do hi-res on some cards (we've had it working at 800x600 at least). Another alternative is to run a windows DVI viewer in hi-res (assuming your card comes with windows drivers...)
