The problem is that some people do not know how to use the listserver.
They send messages like this:

	add djgpp info-gnu

and think that they'll get added to two lists.  What it ends up doing
is adding one list to the other.

Next thing that happens is that everyone and their siblings is sending
a delete message to undo that mistake, and the listserv sends
confirmation to the userid - djgpp in this case - that's it's being
deleted.
