I installed the minimum djgpp package: - djdev110 (with the includes) - bnu22 - gas22 - gcc241 in my 386DX-25 (80M HD with DoubleSpace), followed all environment settings to the letter, even set the tmp and paging environment variables to point to a TMP directory in an uncompressed drive (also host for the DoubleSpace drive) after trying them with a TMP directory in the compressed drive. Tried it with smartdrv on and off, but everytime I try to compile any of the sample programs, I get an error message at link time of the form: "c:/gnu/bin/ld: unable to open file @h:/tmp/.gp" I suspected that the named temporary file was indeed created but was not visible (for whatever reason) to ld, and sure enough when I did an "undelete /dos", in the h:/tmp directory, the named file was one of the deleted files. It seems that the tempory file needed by ld gets deleted before linktime? I know, it sounds stupid but hey, I spent all night last night trying to figure this one out. :( Am I missing something?
