   While I'm all for people prompting their favorite version/port of a system,
   you seem to implie that demacs is the only pc emacs....what of mEmacs, 
   epsilon, freemacs [what most of my friends use], et al?

None of them are GNUemacs (How could they be -- most of them run in
under 640K :-) Only Demacs (and now Oemacs... and wasn't there one
other port for windows that used the X11->windows dll?) are real
GNUemacs, complete with RMAIL and m-x hanoi... and Oemacs is the first
emacs 19 port I've heard of (impressive, since there are some Unix
platforms where emacs19 doesn't work yet...)
