As far as the hypertex stuff ... I think it is already there. You gotta have 
emacs (Demacs for dos, and a couple of windows versions). If you just type
info then you can get help on gcc (you have to install the info stuff). This
works great on u*x but I think it is also usable on dos. Now you have to get
demacs (6-7 mb of space, and for the windows 8 mb of ram!).
