    In luck---grepping for something else, I found the patch to fix
the "wrap at 'z'" problem.  Since this is not a DEmacs list, I won't
post the patch (about 300 lines), but I'll be happy to forward it to
any interested parties on request.
    BTW, the filling routines are preloaded, so the only way to fix
the problem without partially rebuilding DEmacs is to load the
functions later, preferably in _emacs or even default.el.
