I think that that is impossible. To stay in real-address mode the memory
that is physically mapped to the upper memory area must be turned on, 
since virtual memory is disabled, and that requires tickling the chipset. 
I can't see any way around it. Fortunately, Chris Blum is working on new
chipsets, although I'm sure he will work harder if we send him shareware 
money (at least those of us with supported chipsets, catch-22).
