The post was completely redundant, and I should know better.... My only excuse is that I have been out of town for two weeks and the relevant discussion was 50 posts below hte message I reply'd to. Regarding popen() etc, as DJ pointed out with respect to something else (FP computation, I think), not everything in the header files is in the library. There are some kludgey implementations of these which use DOS-style temp files, for example in GNU AWK. But these are not going to be very useful, I think. They're definitely not concurrent! There was some discussion about a month ago regarding DV/X's sockets. I hear they have recently been patched, so maybe something can be done that way. However, I have not heard of any successes yet.
