The file 'readme.vsa' has size '11768' and is dated: 'Jan 30 13:27'. The file 'vesa.grn' has size '983' and is dated: 'Jan 29 23:33'. The file 'go32x.exe' has size '94368' and is dated: 'Jan 29 19:05'. (2) I compiled 'modetest' in the 'drv' subdirectory using DJGPP 1.09. (3) I copied 'drv/vesa.grn' to '\djgpp\drivers'. I added 'set GO32=ansi driver /djgpp/drivers/vesa.grn gw 1024 gh 768' to my 'AUTOEXEC.BAT' file. (4) I ran 'modetest' using 'go32x modetest'. (hacked version). I tried '1024x768x258' on my Dell 466/M with S3 card: It worked fine ! (5) I copied 'go32/graphics.c', 'go32/grprot.asm' and 'go32/driver.h' to '\djgpp\go32' (original GO32 sources) and rebuilt GO32 (using 'make'). (6) I ran 'modetest' using 'go32t modetest' (new recompiled version). The program displays a list of available modes. When one mode is selected (e.g. 1024x768x256) nothing occurs; when a key is hit, the screen turns grey. I suspect that some other 'magic' is included in your hacked 'go32x.exe' file. Didn't you really change any other GO32 source files ? -- Pieter Kunst (kunst AT prl DOT philips DOT nl)
