The idea is a good one as long as you stay running programs under go32.
When you go to the "true" DOS universe, you will find lots of file names
like the following, which is the start of an xdir of my home directory 
under the DOS emulater vpix (the DOS file names are on the left; the
Unix file names are on the right):

 Volume of drive Z is Unix
 Directory of \USR\JON\
