Here's the clue.  The Extender must switch the CPU into protected
mode, and since OS/2 is already running in protected mode (even the
dos boxes), the attempt to switch would fail.  The only way
(currently) to get around this is to use a VCPI interface, which OS/2
does not provide.  An alternative is to use emx, which is the OS/2
equivalent of djgpp (*I* don't have info on it, so please don't ask
me).  Hopefully, djgpp wil eventually have DPMI 1.0 support, which may
allow OS/2 operation.
