Usually, to create a stand-alone .EXE, I do:

        strip prog
        aout2exe prog

this will perform the merging you are looking for, and leave you with a
stand-alone .EXE.

However, like DJ said, you will be bound to pay royalties with the method if
you distribute your application for a fee.
