From: Alvin Starr To: djgpp AT sun DOT soe DOT clarkson DOT edu Subject: Re: GCC 2.01 and DESQview /X Date: Tue, 23 Jun 1992 07:57:56 -0400 To clear up a few points on go32 and DV/X: - DV and DV/X both support VCPI but VCPI does not make any note of how a client program is to collect hold and access virtual memory. VCPI states that the client and server both share a page table that mapps the first 640K of memory but if the server program is supporting multiple clients then some of the first 640K must be remapped so that is is client unique. This means that the first 640K of memory may not have virtual==real(boy did I learn this the hard way). - go32(aka gcc) can be made to run on DV/X, at least I have had some limited success. When I am able to assert with some assurance that my patches to paging.c work I will post them. alternatly if someone wants to check out my patches or has a burning desire to fix up the few areas where I have not completly modified the code. I will be more than happy to send out a copy to them along with the comments indicating places that I know still need fixin. alvin AT eyepoint DOT on DOT ca Phone (416)513-6717
