Alas, you can't get a C++ development environment under BSD UNIX
that matches Borland C++. (Is it even available at *any* price under UNIX?)

We give a course where Borland C++ is used to edit and compile
files (fast (precompiled headers), reasonable syntax feedback)
and gcc to compile and link the final executable (32 bit, efficient).
The efficiency is important due to realtime requirements.

GNU EMACS offers reasonable syntax feedback but it wasn't available
under DOS a year ago.
