And on the other side of the fence, I've been flooded with emails 'purists' explainning that highlight should not be part of grep. But then again every new features to a Unix utilility are attacks on the Unix is a toolbox mentality. The points brought forward by Eli are valid, if the --color survives the beta it will be to be somewhat more portable. Thanks for the feeback.
