(I may be way off base here; if I am don't waste your time replying.) (I don't think you are, but) are you saying that individual programs (e.g., `grep') should know how to handle screen-specific stuff like colors? Isn't this sort of thing properly handled by termio/termcap/whatever? -- jtw
