No, I don't use texinfo-format-buffer (surprise, surprise), I actually run makeinfo via `M-x compile'. The problem in this case was that I changed wc203.txi and immediately checked it in (I cannot try to build the patched files on the same machine where I have the CVS client installed, for technical reasons). And since the bug is pretty hard to spot, it slipped my eyes. I'm sorry for any inconvenience.
