The original test fails in both cases even when run starting from a bash prompt. I also just remembered that I have this line in my DJGPP.ENV file, up with the "+LFN=y" line: +SHELL=%DJDIR%/bin/sh.exe Could that make a difference here? --------------------------------------------------------- Peter J.
