Yes.

Probably, but I would also like that running make in the src directory
(with the -k switch) will build everything it possibly can.  Currently
it doesn't.

I just want to reorganize the makefiles.

I don't, but the make process wanted to run it. :-)

Anyway, the problem I discovered in stubify exists on DOS as well.
Assuming there's no empty.exe in the current directory, running
these commands

touch empty.exe
stubify empty.exe
stubify empty.exe

will freeze the machine.  My patch prevents that.
