If you can do that, you can also do it from any other DJGPP program.
Unless you suggest to compile that ``shell' with something other than
DJGPP, of course.

Where's that needed?  Usually, only two programs are connected in this
way.  I'm not aware of any mechanism that connects more than two
programs.
