I think it was this new awareness of case sensitivity that made all the difference. So DOS calls to gcc are case insensitive, but when make calls gcc, the calls are case sensitive, right? That's where all my trouble with this problem appears to have been rooted, the .exe file has appeared. Thanks again, Jon
