A certain combination of Stable + Beta probably does work; though I can not seem to achieve it. I have decided to install Cygwin. 211mb, perl, python, gcc, mingw, etc., all installed. I am curious how autoconf/autom4te work under cygwin. Perhaps I can observe something that is not there in the DJGPP or some other observation. Either way, this is not a priority with me. Just thought I would give DJGPP a try with the more involved tools to see what would happen. Cygwin sure is a step up from the DJGPP environment... and how can you beat cygwin's setup.exe tool... just like a real Linux Package Installer... sheesh :) I need to get me some respectable books on Bash, Perl, and a single book that covers BinUtils if there's such a thing. THANKS to everyone who tried to offer some advice on this problem, but it is time to move on. Wonder what my chances are of someone sending me a cdrom of their working DJGPP installation, where autoconf, and other things, work as described? Won't hold my breath. :-)
