"Ed is the standard text editor."

It's a line editor standard on Unix, once very popular but now fallen
out of favor due to the appearance of newfangled visual editors.  It
is very small and therefore often suggested to those who complain
about the size of editors like Emacs.

though I don't know if it will compile under DJGPP by default.  There
are probably other ports on Simtelnet.

I have a DOS/Windows implementation whose binary is 20 bytes ;-)
